Mod Progression
⚠️ WARNING: This page contains major spoilers about the no_moon.jar mod's progression and story. If you want to experience the mod fresh, we recommend avoiding this page until you've played through it.
The times in this timeline are both approximate and, for the most part, influenced by sleeping. The times noted are the times if the player does not sleep at all, as the mods' timeline is run by
a seperate timer system that is not affected by sleeping, so sleeping will essentially delay events. The minutes below the day count are the amount of days converted to minutes for ease of use, as they refer to
the time needed to spend in-game to reach that point in the timeline. Players can at any time ask Nothing_Left what to do, and match his response to the ones given in this timeline to know where they are.
The day count in square brackets refers to the number of days passed if the player sleeps through every night fully.
Phase 1: Something's off...
Day 0: Installation
[0 min] First Load
You start your world as normal. Everything seems fine. The moon is visible in the night sky. The only difference is the presence of an entity
that calls itself
nothing_left in the chat, seemingly friendly and trying to be helpful.
Day 0-1: Arrival
[0-20 min] The kick-off
The first actual scare comes upon the player in the form of the
error code -1 jumpscare event.
A mysterious entity appears, causing unsettling effects. Something is definitely wrong.
Day 1: Entrance
[20 min] The breakthrough
A series of messages appear, originating from
error code -1 (in chat noted as _),
indicating hostile behaviour, such as attempts to run a command that kills the player. This marks the true beginning of the mod's influence,
as error code can now enter the players' world to hunt them down directly and build structures.
Day 1: First fracture
[20 min] The broken moon
During the day after the first night, the player can hear a loud cracking sound coming from the sky. Nothing else is noticeable at first, but looking up at night will reveal
the moon in a semi-shattered state. The state of the moon will progressively worsen over time, with the player able to see more and more cracks forming each night and hearing the cracks
during the day. More details about the moon phases can be found
here.
Day 6 [10]: Countdown
[160 min] The crashout
The
countdown event begins. It starts with a faint rumbling ramping up, followed by nothing_left screaming at the player to get inside.
Extreme hostility from error code -1 is observed, with it screaming at and cursing the player through chat, even BEGGING the player to leave. This event typically marks the end of the first phase.
Phase 2: Moonless nights
Day 6 [10]: The moon fully dissapears
[160 min] Checkpoint
The moon is now completely gone from the sky. No more cracking during the days either. Vanilla entities stop spawning alltogether. The world feels... different.
Everything feels empty and off, due to the absense of vanilla entities. If the player hasn't prepared properly, the lack of animals could make food gathering more difficult.
They will need to rely on farming or have stockpiled food that lasts until when the animals reappear.
Day 15-20 [25-35]: The moon starts reforming
[300 min-400 min] Reformation
The empty spot where the moon used to be appears to slowly get filled in again. Faint glowing resembling the gathering of debris in space can be seen. The thing reforming in the sky however,
is in fact not the moon, but a central point of interest in the mod called "the core".
Phase 3: The core grows
Day 20 [35]: The Core Fills
[400 min] THE CORE IS FULL
The core in the sky has fully formed. Having many forms, it's hard to say what it looks like. You can view them all
here. The player will be met with an achievent titled
"THE CORE IS FULL", to make it clear that this is a major milestone in the mod's progression. Asking nothing_left what to do next will yield new instructions. The players' new goal is to craft an altar, as
a process called void corruption has started. The corruption takes the form of fake bedrock blocks that spread upwards from the void, slowly consuming the world and resources unless the player blocks it from doing so.
Day 20+ [35+]: The broken command block
[400+ min] The beginning of the end
With the core fully formed, nothing_left will instruct the player to find the
broken command block. This block is somewhere in the players' world, often thousands of blocks away. It is placed on top
of a tall netherrack pillar, making it visible from faw away. The player will need to travel to it, and interact with it. Upon interaction, the block will perform some unknown process, turning the sun into an eye and granting the
player the "Beginning of the End" achievement. This marks the start of the current endgame phase of no_moon.jar. Proximity to the broken command block CAN cause a black-hole like creature called
the shattered
to be able to spawn, so spend as little time close to it as possible.
Phase 4: The beginning of the end
Day 20+ [35+]: Billy
A mortal amongst gods
This does also not have a set day to trigger, but is rather based off of whether the player has completed certain tasks. Once the player has crafted the altar and placed it down,
nothing_left will instruct the player to find "
Billy". Billy can randomly join your world at any time, but will only actually be useful at this stage of the game. Once the player asks asks Billy
anything containing the words "void altar", he will give the player a paper with instructions on how to build a void altar. This altar later on serves as the gateway to the core itself.
Day 20+ [35+]: The Anti-Virus
The final piece
Once the player has built the void altar, the player will be dissapointed to see it doesn't actually do anything. The player will, upon asking, be instructed to make or find an item
called the Anti-Virus. This items' only use is to be used on the altar. Upon using it on the altar, the altar will activate. Players are advised to gear up before
continuing further, as using the altar will make the player face the mods current final challenge.
Day 20+ [35+]: The Core Dimension
Boss Arena
The player uses the altar after ample preparation, and is teleported to a new dimension called "The Core". This dimension is a barren wasteland constructed out of blocks that seem to resemble cobblestone, but
significantly darker and slightly glowing blue. In this dimension, the player can find something called a
Core Shard. This shard will occasionally send out lightning and fireballs. The player
must find it and destroy it, which will trigger the final boss fight with
The Void.
Day 20+ [35+]: The Void Rises
FINAL BOSS
The Void awakens as the player destroys the core shard, in an attempt to stop the player from completing their goal. The void is a formidable opponent, especially if the player is playing on hard mode.
The fight is long and challenging, containing multiple phases and attacks. Defeating the void is the final step in the current no_moon.jar progression.
Post-Game: The Aftermath
Beyond
The void is no more... The player celebrates with nothing_left, until he notes something's off. The lost souls are still not freed. Nothing_left retreats as he needs some time to process this and instructs the player how to leave the core dimension.
The player is back in the overworld,
Game over no longer spawns, while some entities may still linger.
Is it truly over?
